Light Console by Reshenie-Pro (2024)

Objective: It is necessary to design a lightweight console with a minimal countertop depth, based on a fresh technological approach.

Solution: I decided to build upon my previous work (the console for VTB Bank) and create a new, improved version.

The user experience of using the console at VTB Bank had been different. I had identified a technical issue – the operators’ knees often hit the edge of the cable tray. Additionally, it is impossible to cross one’s legs when they are pulled out under the cable tray.

I decided to rotate the cable tray and move it away from the operators’ knees.

This solution allows you to make a countertop of the smaller depth in the standards of ergonomics. Thin clients and KVMs can be placed in a cable tray or in decorative columns.

I was decided to make the countertop in two levels for greater aesthetics.

Additional computing power can be placed in mobile cabinets. This is often done, and the main problem with this method is insufficient cooling. Hot air from the cabinet enters the enclosed space under the countertop.

I have come up with an interesting idea. Since the console is hollow, we could improve its ventilation by creating a better airflow. The console could draw hot air out of the cabinet on its own. To do this, we would need to install fans inside the console and allow the cabinet to push air into it.

It is planned to install Silent Wing 3 fans from Be Quiet in the main columns at the top level. These fans have impressive specifications: an almost silent operation at 13 decibels, a guaranteed 300,000-hour lifespan, and all this with an air pressure of 87 CFM. This will create a single airflow system for the equipment and solve the issue of computer overheating.

This project is currently in the process of engineering development.
